The central position of 1 Grosvenor Square gives you the opportunity to explore the very best that Mayfair – and prime, central London – has to offer.
Originally developed by Sir Richard Grosvenor in the early 18th century (and thereafter the Grosvenor Estate), 1 Grosvenor Square went on to house the US ambassador John Adams from 1785 before he became president. The entrance lobby was even built to replicate the White House’s Oval Office – a feature which has been preserved to this day.
From 1938-1960, the building served as the official US Embassy, after which it was used by the Canadian High Commission before being sold to the Lodha Group – it’s current owners – who set about a painstaking reconstruction of the building to make it the luxury residence it is today.
You’ll find many of the historic features delightfully intact for your appreciation.
